how do people who don’t believe in evolution deal with the following story?

I guess it’s a matter of perspective, my friend. I would look at the same story, and say, Isn’t it miraculous how God can use a gorilla to save the life of a child?
Because they have similar maternal qualities hardly proves ancestry.
it doesn’t make you, even just a little bit, curious about it all?
it doesn’t make you question whether evolution might accurately describe how we humans got to be how we are?
as a side note — and maybe you were speaking colloquially for brevity’s sake, but no one in authority on the matter believes that gorillas are, in any way, a human ancestor.
