lions in indiana

it represents confirmed cougar encounters from 1990 to the present in the united states (and our hat, too).

i find this fascinating.

in 1991 i saw a cougar in an empty cornfield directly across the country road from my house, in mooresville, indiana, which is about ten minutes outside indianapolis.

back then i didn’t know they weren’t supposed to be here, so i didn’t think anything about it. (except to get back inside!)

now i learn that it was likely a very rare sighting indeed.
